Kitchens and bathrooms
The two rooms that decide whether a house feels finished. Layout changes, cabinets set level, tile and waterproofing done in the order that keeps them dry ten years out.
Florissant, MO · Building since 2014
CJB Construction is Chris Baker: a carpenter who has been building under his own name since 2014. Kitchens, baths, basements, additions and decks across the St. Louis area.
Why remodels go sideways
A remodel is thirty decisions and eight trades in the right order. When the order slips, the drywall goes up before the inspection, the cabinets land before the floor is level, and a six week job turns into a season of your life.
CJB is built the other way around. One carpenter owns the schedule, and the plan gets written before anything gets torn out.
A verbal walkthrough is not a scope. Everything after it is an argument about what was implied.
Framing stops dead while paperwork catches up, and the trades you booked move on to another job.
Plumbing, electric and HVAC each need the wall open at the right moment, not all on the same Tuesday.
Punch list items get treated as favors instead of the final phase of the job.
What we build
Four ways CJB gets called in. Everything from a single bathroom to a full structure sits under one of them, and all of it runs through the same carpenter.
The two rooms that decide whether a house feels finished. Layout changes, cabinets set level, tile and waterproofing done in the order that keeps them dry ten years out.
Turning square footage you already own into rooms you actually use. Framing, egress, insulation, drywall and a stair that passes inspection.
New structure tied into old, from footings up. Sized, flashed and framed so the addition reads as part of the house instead of a bolt-on.
Back to sound framing before anything cosmetic goes on. Rot, water damage and failed structure get cut out and replaced, not covered over.
Signature tool · Build your scope
Pick your areas and how deep you want to go. This lays out the real construction sequence for that job, including where the inspection gates land. Then take it straight to Chris.
Your build order
Tap the rooms and structures you want touched in the drawing, choose how deep the work goes, then hit Sequence the build. You will get the phase order, the trades that stack inside each phase, and the points where an inspector has to sign off before the next phase starts.
Nine areas · three depths · one honest order of operations
How a CJB job runs
Chris comes out, measures, looks at what is behind the wall as much as what is in front of it, and tells you what the job actually involves.
The work gets written down before anything is torn out: areas, materials, sequence and what is not included.
Phases run in order, trades get called in on the day the wall is ready for them, and inspections are booked ahead instead of after.
A final walkthrough with a list, and the list gets closed out. The last ten percent is a phase, not a favor.
Who CJB builds for
A unit turned and ready to list. Same carpenter, different clock.
You live in the middle of the job. Dust control, a clear start time and a house you can still use at night matter as much as the finish.
Your job is a hold cost. Scope gets set fast, the sequence gets compressed where it safely can, and the finish is chosen for the exit, not for a magazine.
You need a carpenter who reads a plan set and shows up on the date in the schedule. CJB works with builders, property companies and commercial owners.
Where we work
North County and the St. Louis metro is home turf and the fastest to schedule. Beyond the metro, Chris takes work across the state when the job and the calendar line up.
